otalitarian scenarios, based on documented plans by Philips, Procter and Gamble, Wal-Mart and other companies, along with the federal government, to track consumer goods and people individually. And of course, when we all have RFID implants, they could end up festering, and voila, a sore. What is totally interesting is that the original foreward to the book (she didn't use it) was written by Bruce Sterling, sci-fi author. RFID, Mark of the Beast, and Considerations of the Extension of Ourselves via Technology
I have been posting stories and talking about RFID for years, but this one takes the cake. A Christian consumer advocate has deduced (or gotten a message from God?) that RFID tags ae going to "evolve" to become the Mark of the Beast or 666.

So,... whats your point? Are people "wackos" for concluding that the RFID implant is reminiscent of the concept of the mark of the beast as described in the Bible? or are people who let a microchip be implanted in their bodies the wackos? It would seem to me that the RFID chip being viewed as a prime candidate for, what the Bible calls, the Mark of the Beast is a viable option. Further, if it were, there is nothing anyone can do about it. The Bible was written thousands of years ago by men who had zero understanding about the future's way of life or the counterparts therein and we today, in a likewise manner, do not understand exactly what these "prophets" saw in their visions. I think this is a reasonable conclusion based on the information that is available. Either way, the "wacko" term is completely intolerant.
I apologize for characterizing the author as a wacko. While I find the literal interpretation of RFID chips as the Mark of the Beast to be fanciful, how far we can extend our selves using technology is a valid ethical and moral question.
Fair enough, although you don't have to apologize to me. I am not offended. But I have 3 questions. Is the RFID chip going to be used as a form of currency? Are finances able to manipulate people? Is it possible that the popular forms of currency, as we know it, could be phased out by RFID chips? A lack of understanding the RFID chip and history or a twist of the imagination would answer these questions with a definite "no." I will leave the Bible out of it and let this resonate in every reader's mind. I mean no offense in any of my questions but I think these are valid questions one should ask in view of the aforementioned premise. Of course, that is if eternity and the things in the Bible are a concern of yours as they are mine. Perhaps the "Message from God," as you so eloquently put it, was just her exercising a sense of logic in the matter and not God at all?
